Cuban Triple Jumper Wins Silver in Moscow

Photo: granma.cu    Cuban triple jumper Pedro Pablo Pichardo won the silver medal on the last day of the World Athletics Championships, held at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, the Russian capital city that very well organized the top sports events.

In a remarkable demonstration, Pichardo reached 17.68 meters in an event dominated by Frenchman Teddy Thango (18.04), while American Will Claye (17.52) ended third, according to IAAF website.

The young representative of Cuba, just 20, showed his quality and excellent conditions in that modality by battling against more experienced rivals, who are used to participate in world-class competencies.

Pichardo, Barcelona 2012 world junior champion, increases thus his list of achievements with this result, which is a notice of his pretensions in the near future.

Cuban delegation ended then with three medals, in addition to Pichardo
