Cuba at Rehab Course for Visually Impaired

ULAN rehabilitation secretary, Cuban Jose Raul Baquet, and Chilean Patricio Parada delivered key-note lectures at the course on mobility, daily activity and social inclusion of the visually impaired.

Baquet said that the course counted on the participation of professors, doctors and members of different organizations that assist blind people. A new rehabilitation manual adopted by the regional organization was applied during the course, he said.

The first rehabilitation course for the visually impaired was given at El Salvador with the attendance of representatives of Central American nations, while the next event will take place in Bolivia.

The Cuban expert is also the director of the Cuban National Rehabilitation Center, an institution that has trained over 1 600 visually impaired Cubans and nearly 100 Latin Americans. / Source: ACN.
