According to Prensa Latina news agency from the U.S. capital, there is a vigil scheduled outside the White House, the start of the tour by Canadian writer Stephen Kimber with his book “What’s on the other side of the sea: The True Story of the Cuban Five” and a Congressional lobbying.

The International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five, as Gerardo Hernandez Noderlo, Ramon Labañino Salazar, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez Schewerert are known, announced that on September 12, the date that marks the fifteenth anniversary of the arrest, "they will hold protests throughout the world in front of U.S. embassies."

The vigil, the committee said, will begin that day at noon in front of the White House to demand President Barack Obama the immediate release of Gerardo, RamOn, Antonio and Fernando, still confined in federal prisons.

These actions seek to exert greater political pressure on Washington to end the injustice, the text reads.

Among the activities mentioned above is inserted, in New York, the exhibition of “Yo me muero como viví “ by Antonio Guerrero.

This includes 15 watercolors depicting the 17 months they spent in solitary confinement after being arrested in Miami in the early hours of September 12, 1998.

Among the organizations that will participate in these actions in favor of the Cuban Five are the All-African People's Revolutionary Party, African Awareness Association, ANSWER Coalition, Code Pink, DC Metro Coalition to Free the Cuban Five, DC Labor Chorus, International Action Center, Institute for Policy Studies, Socialist Workers Party and Takoma Park Committee to Free the Cuban Five, among others. / Source: ACN.
