Raul Castro Welcomes WHO-PAHO Executives

The Cuban president was accompanied by the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Margaret Chan, and of the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), Carissa Etienne, as well as top officials from the island’s government.

They were welcomed by CENCEC director Maria Amparo Pascual, and CECMED director Rafael Perez Cristia.

The WHO director-general cut the ribbon of access to the modern six-floor facility, with 11,209 square meters, located west of Havana.

CECMED has laboratories for the control for quality of drugs and medical devices that comply with the Standards of Good Practices established by WHO and PAHO, allowing certification as regional reference center.
